Gord Sedgwick, CFP, CA – send email

Gord is one of four partners in the firm and is known for his skills in income taxation and as a client business adviser. He was born and raised in Thornhill, Ontario. He graduated from the Business School at the University of Western Ontario with an HBA in 1976 and moved to Vancouver to work with KPMG (formerly Peat Marwick). He obtained his CA in 1982 and was transferred to their Toronto office to work as a tax specialist. After three years in this position and completing the 3-year CICA in-depth income tax course, he moved to Midland in 1987. His reputation for tax knowledge precedes him and he provides consulting support to other chartered accountants in the area.

Randy Post, CA – send email

Randy is our senior partner and has been in accounting for more than 30 years. 

Randy grew up in Leaside in Toronto and received his secondary education at St. Michael’s College School. He obtained his C.A. in 1975 with the firm of Sheppard Cartledge Hammond & Tossell and in 1984, they merged with Clarke Henning & Co., a large Toronto-based firm. As one of 12 partners, Randy managed approximately 300 small to medium sized clients. He also represented Clarke Henning as a Board Member of I. A. International, an international organization of independent public accounting firms.

Steve Hogg, CA – send email

Raised in Midland, Steve received his Honours BA from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University. He completed his apprenticeship at a small firm in Guelph then went on to work at Mintz & Partners in Toronto from 1997 to 2000 with his last year specializing in their tax department. He obtained his CA designation in January 1999 then began the two year CICA in-depth tax course, completing it in 2001. Steve has been the Treasurer of the Friends of the Wye Marsh since January 2002 and has also been a member of the Tiny-Penetang Bay Liaison Committee since January 2001.

Joel Rumney, CA – send email

Joel Rumney Joel Rumney was born and raised in Midland. Joel received his BAcc (Honours) from Brock University in 2005. Joel joined the firm in December 2006 after receiving his C.A. with BDO Dunwoody in Orillia. At BDO, Joel spent a significant amount of time in the assurance department and has since focused his time in both taxation and assurance. Joel has served as the Treasurer of the Friends of the Wye Marsh and is also a one-to-one mediator for people with special needs.

Staff

Karen Attwood, CGA – send email

Karen Attwood Imported from Chicago, Illinois, Karen received her BSBA from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 1977 and her CGA in 1989. She jumped right into her career in accounting at Arthur Anderson & Co in 1977 in Chicago, and then Sedgwick Post and Hogg, here in Midland in 1981.

Christine Lalonde – send email

Christine Lalonde Christine was born in Mississauga and came to Midland in 1975. After graduating from Midland Secondary School, she took the 2-year accounting diploma program at Georgian College in Barrie. She continued on and has taken many CGA courses, completed the Institute of Certified Financial Planners courses and is a Certified QuickBooks Advisor.

Deb Ealey, CFP, CGA – send email

Deb Ealey Born in Toronto, Deborah moved to Midland in 1972 when her parents relocated. She graduated with honours from Midland Secondary School in 1981, received her CGA in 1990 and her CFP designation in 1999.

Kelly Daley – send email

Kelly Daley Kelly was born and raised in the Elmvale-Wasaga Beach area. After graduating from High School, she took a 2-year computer programmer diploma program at Georgian College in Barrie. After working for 2 years as Regional Manager of the Mid Ontario Snowmobile Association, she went back to college and obtained a 3-year diploma in Business Administration – Accounting with honours at Georgian College.

Tara Collison – send email

Tara Collison Tara was born and raised in Port Severn. After graduating from St. Theresa’s High School with honours, she majored in economics at York University. Tara returned to the area to raise her daughter. She joined a local accounting firm where she worked for ten years before joining our firm. She is currently pursuing her CGA designation and finishing her degree through distance education.

Melissa Page, CA – send email

Melissa Page Melissa Page, CA was raised in Oro-Medonte and graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor in Management and Organizational studies.   From 2008 until joining Sedgwick Post & Hogg, Melissa worked at Ernst and Young, LLP auditing large public and private companies.  Melissa has travelled around Australia for a year and spent five weeks in Europe.  Now she is content to rollerblade and hike outdoors around home when she isn’t accounting.

Norie Ventura – send email

Norie Ventura Norie Ventura is now assisting us during peak busy times. Norie is self employed assisting business owners with their bookkeeping and accounting needs. When she is not assisting her clients and us, she is spending family time with her husband and three children and volunteering with local community organizations such as Community Living Huronia (Dreams to Reality Campaign), Tiny Trails Lions Club, and the Huronia Pregnancy Resource Centre.

Barb Barnum – send email

Barb Barnum Barb was born and raised in Northern Ontario.  She moved to the Midland area after coming back from spending two year working in an office in Nairobi, Kenya as a secretary.  She joined the firm in October 2005 and is currently taking courses towards her CGA designation.

Catherine MacDonald – send email

Catherine MacDonald Catherine is our Office Administrator and keeps a close eye over our reception area. Catherine has lots of experience in accounting and general office administration as well as operating an income tax clinic for senior and low income earners before joining the firm in 1995. Her community involvement includes serving on the North Simcoe Catholic Family Life Centre Board for one year, on the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board for twelve years and she currently is a director for Community Care Access Centre.
